Root Canal Treatment (Endodontics)

Dr Aman Phull manages a wide range of endodontic work — from routine root canals to the most complex multi-rooted and retreatment cases.

Root Canal Treatment

Primary endodontic treatment

Root canal treatment becomes necessary when the dental pulp — the soft tissue inside the tooth containing nerves and blood vessels — becomes infected or inflamed, usually as a result of deep decay, a crack, or trauma. Dr Aman Phull removes the damaged pulp tissue, thoroughly disinfects and shapes the canal system, and seals the tooth to prevent further infection.

Using an operating microscope and the most current nickel-titanium rotary systems and 3D obturation techniques, treatment is carried out with precision and a focus on patient comfort throughout.

Root Canal Re-treatment

Retreatment of previously root-filled teeth

Occasionally a tooth that has previously undergone root canal treatment may develop further infection or fail to heal. This can result from bacteria remaining within the canal system, a missed canal, or new infection entering the tooth. Root canal re-treatment involves carefully removing the existing filling material, thoroughly re-cleaning and disinfecting the canals, and resealing the tooth.

With microscope magnification and CBCT imaging, many previously treated teeth — including those with complex anatomy or complications — can be successfully retreated and the tooth preserved.

Root Canal Microsurgery (Apicectomy)

Surgical endodontics

In some cases where conventional root canal treatment or re-treatment has not resolved an infection, surgical endodontic treatment may be required. Apicectomy (microsurgery) involves making a small incision in the gum to access the root tip, removing the end of the root and any infected tissue, and sealing the root end with a biocompatible material.

Dr Aman Phull performs endodontic microsurgery under magnification, allowing highly precise and minimally invasive treatment.
